This page is about pokiq.com, the site you are reading now. There are no cookies on it. What is kept in your browser instead is described below item by item, under the name it is stored as, so that you can check it yourself.
No cookies
Pokiq.com sets no cookies at all. Not for statistics, not for advertising, not to recognise you. There is no ad network on this site, no social media button watching along and no affiliate script.
What there is instead are three things the browser keeps in sessionStorage and localStorage. That is storage inside your own browser which, unlike a cookie, is never sent along with a request to a server on its own. All three are listed below.
What does end up in your browser
pokiq_attribution
sessionStorage
- Where
- Every page, but only when you arrive through a link that carries campaign parameters.
- What is in it
- The values of utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term and ref from the URL you arrived with, each cut off at 120 characters. Nothing else: no email address, no name, no IP address, no browsing history.
- Why
- So that we can tell which campaign or which referral code brought someone in if they later follow a link to the app. The values are appended to that one outgoing link. They are recorded on the first visit only and never overwritten after that.
- How long
- Until you close the tab. sessionStorage does not survive that.
- If you delete it
- You will not notice anything. The site behaves the same; we simply no longer know where you came from.
pokiq-sessie-holdem and pokiq-sessie-computer
localStorage
- Where
- The practice tables on /en/play/texas-holdem/ and /en/play/vs-computer/. The Dutch tables use the same keys with -nl on the end.
- What is in it
- One number: how many hands a session lasts. Nothing else, and none of the hands you played.
- Why
- The first session at a table is free and needs no account. This is how the table remembers that the free session has been played.
- How long
- Until you clear the storage for this site. localStorage has no expiry date.
- If you delete it
- The table gives you a fresh free session.
pokiq_equity_reeks and pokiq_equity_beste_reeks
localStorage
- Where
- Only the equity trainer, which lives on the Dutch side of the site.
- What is in it
- Two numbers: your current run of good estimates and your best run so far.
- Why
- So the counter is still there after a break or a page reload.
- How long
- Until you clear the storage for this site.
- If you delete it
- Both counters start again at zero. Nothing else is lost.
All three are built so that they are allowed to fail. If your browser blocks storage, or you are in a private window, nothing breaks: the table still deals, the trainer still counts within that session, and the campaign parameters simply do not travel.
Visitor statistics are switched off
The privacy statement names Plausible as the provider for visitor statistics, and Plausible measures without cookies. At the time this page was updated, that script does not load here at all. In the code it sits behind a setting that is still empty, and while it is empty no measurement script is fetched and no measurement leaves your browser.
That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight: loading a script that throws the events away would mean a request to a third party on every page view without anything being measured. If statistics are switched on later, the paragraph above is the one that has to change. If this page points the wrong way, say so through the about page.
What is fetched from elsewhere
The typefaces on this site come from Google Fonts. To load them your browser fetches a stylesheet from fonts.googleapis.com and the font files from fonts.gstatic.com. Those servers therefore see the request from your browser, along with the IP address that comes with it. We set no cookie for that and see nothing of the request ourselves; what Google does with it is described in Google's own privacy policy.
Everything else on this site comes from the site itself: the images, the scripts and the calculation module behind the tools all sit on our own domain. The poker maths in the tools and at the practice tables runs inside your own browser, so the hands you play and the cards you enter go nowhere.
Why there is no cookie banner
Because there is nothing to ask. No cookies are placed and nothing is recorded in order to follow you around. The three items above are the storage the feature itself needs in order to work, and they disappear when you throw them away.
If something is ever added that you ought to be asked about, the question will be there, and it will be described here before it happens. This page describes what the site does; it is not legal advice.
Clearing or blocking it yourself
All three items sit in your browser under the storage for this site, usually under a heading such as site data or storage. Every browser names it differently, so look in the settings of the browser you use. The first one disappears anyway as soon as you close the tab.
If you block storage entirely, this site keeps working. All you lose is your run in the equity trainer, and the table no longer knows that you have already played your free session.
The app is a different thing
This page is about pokiq.com. If you log in to the Pokiq app, that is a different application at a different address, with a session that does have to be kept so that you stay logged in. What is processed there is described in the privacy statement.
