Rebuy
A rebuy is a second buy in taken during a tournament that allows it, either after busting or when your stack falls below a set level.
It changes what a tournament costs and therefore what a result means. An event entered three times has been paid for three times, and a first prize measured against a single buy in overstates how well it went.
It also changes how the early levels play. When busting is not final, players take chances they otherwise would not, so the field is looser during the rebuy period and tightens the moment it closes.
an example
your cards
You get all the money in with ace king against a pair of queens and lose, which happens 56.99% of the time. In a freezeout that ends your tournament, and in a rebuy event it costs one more buy in and you sit back down.
This example is made up. The real one is in your own hand history: find rebuy in your own hands and see how often it came up and what it cost you.
