C-bet
also called continuation bet
A continuation bet, or c-bet, is a bet on the flop made by the player who raised last before the flop.
The name says what it is: you took the lead before the flop and you continue with it, whether or not the flop helped you. It works because the flop misses both players far more often than it hits, and the player who raised is the one expected to keep betting.
It works less well the more the board suits the caller. A flop of three low connected cards helps the hands that called a raise more than the hands that made it, and betting there simply because you bet last time is one of the more expensive habits in poker.

You raised before the flop and got one caller. The flop gives you nothing at all, but it is dry and it fits the hands you raised with better than the hands that called. A bet here is a c-bet, and it wins the pot on the spot whenever the caller also missed.
