Offsuit
also called unsuited
Two hole cards are offsuit when they are of different suits, which rules out making a flush with both of them.
Every specific offsuit hand is 12 of the 1,326 possible starting hands, against 4 for the suited version, so offsuit hands are three times as common and individually worth less.
The gap in value is real but modest for the biggest hands. Ace king offsuit is still a premium holding, while offsuit connectors and gapped cards lose most of what made them playable and belong in far fewer opening ranges.
an example
your cards
One heart and one diamond means no flush that uses both cards. The hand is still strong before the flop, and the 4 suited combinations of the same two ranks would be stronger, because they can make the hand this one cannot.
This example is made up. The real one is in your own hand history: find offsuit in your own hands and see how often it came up and what it cost you.
