Master guide
The essence of every lesson in a single line, your cheat sheet for the table. Click a topic for the full explanation.
Fundamentals
Categorise your hand (value / marginal / draw / air) and play the plan that belongs to it. Judge relative strength against the range, not absolute strength.
In position you see more information and act last. Play more hands in position and tighter out of it.
Measure your win rate in bb/100 over serious volume. Variance is part of the game; keep your bankroll thick enough to survive the swings.
Preflop
Open tight from early position, wider from late. Play aggressively rather than loose-passively, and choose your 3-bet and calling ranges on purpose.
Postflop
Read whose range hits the board. Dry and in your favour: c-bet small and often. Wet: bet big with value and draws, and keep a checking range.
Barrel with a reason: value, or a card that helps your range. Check your medium hands for pot control and never give equity away for free.
Bet only for value or as a bluff, otherwise check. Pick bluffs with blockers and bluff catch on pot odds and bluff frequency, not on feel.
Opponents & the mental game
Place every player on loose/tight and passive/aggressive. Value bet stations, bluff catch LAGs, respect and steal against nits.
Recognise tilt as drifting from your plan and use a stop-loss agreed in advance. Judge decisions on process, not on outcome.
Tournament
Below 15 bb: shove or fold, no limps. Use your fold equity early and wide; call tighter on the bubble because of ICM.
Theory
GTO is an unexploitable baseline, not profit maximisation against weak players. Learn the principles and deviate on purpose the moment you spot a mistake.
