Cutoff
also called CO
The cutoff is the seat directly to the right of the button, which makes it the second best position at the table because only one player can still take position away from you.
It gets its name from cutting off the button: raising here often folds the button and leaves you as the last player to act for the rest of the hand, which is most of what the button is worth.
Because only three players remain behind you in a nine handed game, opening ranges here are far wider than in early seats, and hands that are folds under the gun become clear raises.

Everyone folds to you in the cutoff with king ten. Three players remain behind you rather than seven, so the same hand that was an easy fold in early position becomes a raise, mostly because it now wins the blinds often enough on its own.
