Delayed continuation bet
also called delayed c-bet
A delayed continuation bet is a bet on the turn by the player who raised before the flop after they checked the flop instead of betting it.
Checking the flop and betting the turn is not indecision, it is a way to keep the checking range from being only weak hands. It also lets a hand that was behind on the flop pick up a pair or a draw before it invests anything.
It works because the opponent has usually told you something by then. A player who declined to bet after your flop check is rarely holding a strong hand, so the turn bet meets a range that has already shown it does not want a big pot.

You raised before the flop and checked back a king high flop with ace jack. Your opponent checks again on the turn. Betting now asks a hand with no king to fold, and you still have three aces and three jacks that make you the best hand.
