Hero
Hero is the name given to the player whose seat you are looking at in a hand example, so that a hand can be discussed without naming anybody.
It pairs with villain, the opponent. The two words exist so that a written hand reads the same whoever is telling it, and so that the discussion stays about the decision rather than about the person.
A hero call is a related and different thing: a call made with a weak hand because you believe the opponent is bluffing, and it is named for how it feels rather than for how often it works.
